New Project

I've just started a new project just for fun.  I've just started creating some sprites for a new game.  This game will be an action adventure with a top down view (kind of like zelda for nes).  But I think the overall objective will be to just survive.  I've just started brainstorming so alot may change, but I think the main character will be stranded on an island and you will have to travel around collecting whatever you can find and surviving. I want to implement some kind of currency used to trade with maybe a local native or just someone you run into that is also stranded. Well I'm excited to keep working on this, I'll update when I get more done...

Presentation

We gave our presentations today in front of a few teacher figures and for Globaloria representatives.  I think I did ok with mine.  I didn't complete the game but I got it working and built the whole first level and all the intro cinematic sequences up to and right after that point.  Overall, I think I did pretty well.  I will continue to work on Wamboosa in my spare time and try to implement some more ideas into the game.  It now has a survival skill educational part in the game.  I tried for a long time to figure out how I was going to implement an educational component, and that was the best thing that I could think of.  I want it to be something that is kinda fun to learn. I'll update as I add more to the game. You can play the game on my main wiki page.

First Scene

I started creating my first scene for Wamboosa today. I haven't quite finished it yet, but the intro scene is pretty much done. I also just finished watching alot of flash tutorials on Globaloria. There is still alot I need to learn to be able to make the animations I want.  I really hope we can get some more in depth tutorials soon so I can learn the programming I need to be able to create my platform game.

Back in Business

This is my first post in quite awhile.  I was sick for what seemed like a year or more. I had pneumonia and I still don't feel quite right, but I think that is how pneumonia works.  It kinda stays with you for awhile.  My paper prototype for my game "Wamboosa" was posted for me by one of my classmates....Thank You!  Anyway the prototype posted is kind of a basic story board, but there are many more things that I want to add. I'm just not sure what I'm going to have time for and what I'm going to be able to do.  Which it all depends on the time we have left and what I will learn from the tutorials made available to us.  Hopefully when it's time to present I have atleast a fully functional game with all the basic concepts that I wanted to cover.  I might have to leave out some of the extra features that I want to include but are not really a must.  As I learn new techniques and come up with new ideas for "Wamboosa" based on the techniques that I do learn, I will keep updated posts with any new features I'm going to add to the game.

Paper Prototype

We started our paper prototypes last week and I've come up with a new idea for my story line. I wanted a platform game so I'm going to have it to where you are climbing a mountain and each screen is a step up the mountain. The story starts with the main character and his girlfriend lying in a field with a snake that goes unnoticed and bites his girlfriend. He takes his girlfriend to a locals house and the old man that lives there tells him of a flower that can cure her poisoned state. It is located on a mountain called Wamboosa. So the character has to climb Wamboosa and get the flower to save his woman.  At the top of each screen is a door and you will have to answer questions of different topics to continue. That's the best thing I could think of for now.

My First Flash Game

After learning some of the basics of ActionScript in class last Friday, I was compelled to get Adobe Flash at home so I could play with ActionScript coding and learn all I could. This is my first flash game created in ActionScript 2.0, using the template provided and the skills I had learned so far (which isn't much). Hope you enjoy

Xbox 360: Bioshock2 and Dante's Inferno

I finally got my xbox returned to Gamestop and received a new one, but the one they game me only has standard definition cables. So now I have to make my way back there sometime to trade cables, b/c it makes no sense to have a HDTV and play Xbox 360 in standard def. While I was there I picked up Dante's Inferno and Bioshock 2, both excellent games. I haven't played much of Bioshock 2 yet, but from what I've seen, it's pretty much like the first (minus the fact that you're a big daddy, so your melee weapon is your drill hand).
I played Dante's Inferno for a few hours the other night, and I was very impressed. The game is very much like God of War, as far as being an action adventure with upgradable weapons, magic, and attacks. In Dante's Inferno you play Dante who has a run in with death and beats his ass with his own Reaper. When you get back home, you find your wife dead and her soul is taken to hell right in front of your eyes. So you travel to hell and fight your way through hells forces and through the many circles of hell. So far this game is excellent. I can't wait to see what's in store for Dante. If your a gamer like me and you like games like God of War, then you will definitely like Dante's Inferno.
